Reimagining Spiritual Formation in Time of COVID-19 Pandemic
June-August 2020
Module description
This module is designed to help strengthen our spiritual growth or spiritual formation in this stressful time of a COVID—19 pandemic. The pandemic has caused countries to impose lockdowns which forced churches out of their brick-and-mortal sacred spaces to find different means of doing and being Church. Many churches went online. We shall examine how effective is this online mode of delivery for spiritual formation. In this module, we will examine the underlying principles of the spiritual formation process. We will also evaluate the pre-pandemic mode of spiritual formation practices, spiritual formation communities and its missional aspects. That is the old normalcy and is lost forever. We will look at spiritual formation in faith communities in this digital interconnected world in this post pandemic lockdown world. This is the new normalcy or wineskin. This module is an online module and the students and lecturer will meet only in virtual sacred spaces. We will be sharing on email, Whatsapp, Youtube, and Moodle. No physical classes at STM-KL Centre.

This is a 3-credit module for the STM TEE.
Module dates
15 June to 30 August 2020

The class will meet by Zoom every Friday of the starting week from 8.00pm to 10.00pm following the schedule (The Zoom URL and password will be given via a WhatsApp group for this module).
It is recommended that the students should start their reading now.
Objectives
The expected major outcome of this module is that you will have reflected on where you are in your spiritual journey, understood the dynamics of formative and transformative aspects of spiritual formation, and be equipped to nurture and deliver spiritual formation using technology as an extension of the physical Christian faith communities.
By the end of this module it is hoped you will have
1. Reflected on the pedagogy, and affirmed the formative and transformative aspects of your faith communities.
2. Identified the strengths and weaknesses of your own spiritual growth.
3. Be able to define the nature of spiritual growth/spiritual formation and its importance as the task of the Christian faith community.
4. Reviewed the aspects of person-in-formation, persons-in-community, and persons-in-mission developments in yourself and your local faith communities.
5. Expand your concept of sacred space by extending it into Cyberspace.
